Multi-storey residential building located in Kottawa

 Successfully completed the structural design for a multi-storey residential building located in Kottawa. The project includes a carefully planned foundation system, optimized column layout, and efficient load transfer mechanism ensuring both safety and cost-effectiveness.

Special attention was given to:
✔️ Proper foundation selection based on site conditions
✔️ Structural stability and lateral load resistance
✔️ Practical detailing for ease of construction
✔️ Coordination with architectural requirements

From foundation layout to 3D analytical modeling, the design was developed to achieve durability, functionality, and construction efficiency.

Structural design of a Retaining Wall at Kandana.

Around 5 feet height of soil was to be retained and a previously built close construction was appeared on the upper bank. 1 feet by 9 inches sized reinforced concrete columns were proposed in 10 feet intervals and a capping beam was proposed on top and a tie beam in the bottom. Transverse lateral soil loads were accumulated by the restrained slabs and it was transferred to the beams and the columns and finally to the column footings and to the earth down bank. A strong stiff soil was appeared on the down bank and hence, it was ok to use economical footing sizes. 
Weep holes were proposed to dissipate the excessive water pressure. In the present, the construction is finished and functioning well.

Two story house of a Mechanical Engineer at Imbulgoda, Kadawatha.

 The house is constructed in a land very near to Colombo Kandy road in Imbulgoda, Kadawatha. The Structural Design was done by Chartered structural engineer, Isuru S. Amarasena. 

The ground floor is with 2 car parks, an open veranda and few small open outside corridors. A large living area, a dining area, a bed room, a pantry and a bath room is there at ground floor. A servant's room is also placed by utilizing the space below the staircase. In the upstairs there is a master bed room with an attached bath room and another two bedrooms. A large void space is provided in the upstairs just above the dining hall.  three balconies are provided for three bedrooms. A Tv lobby area and a small common bathroom is provided at the first floor as well. The spaces have been utilized in an effective manner and the architectural design has done a great job here.

We ensured the structural stabilization and also we always try give an economical design with the required minimum size of the members with the minimum required reinforcement steel bars.
